Under-18s edged out by Scarlets

12/09/2019

Dragons Under-18s completed the first round of fixtures in the Regional Age Grade Championship with a 29-17 defeat at the hands of Scarlets Under-18s at Parc y Scarlets on Wednesday evening.

Scarlets raced into an early 10-0 lead, with the visitors reduced to 14 when Oli Andrews was yellow carded, before Dragons hit back with a try from back row George Young that was converted by Joe Westwood.

The hosts stretched the lead out with two further scores before replacement Che Hope crossed the whitewash just after the break.

A late try from centre Johnny Paynter could not spark a comeback, despite Scarlets losing two players to the sin bin late on.

Dragons Under-18s are back in action in the Regional Age Grade Championship in January when they travel to RGC Under-16s.
