Jones backs Brown to show quality

12/09/2019

Forwards Coach Ceri Jones has backed prop Leon Brown to ‘show what a quality player he is’ after he returned to Dragons this week.

Brown spent his summer involved with Wales, taking part in gruelling training camps in Switzerland and Turkey before winning his sixth cap against Ireland.

The 22-year-old was ultimately disappointed not to be selected for the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

However, he has returned to the region’s training HQ at Ystrad Mynach early full of energy and has the full backing of Jones - with potential involvement in Saturday’s double-header with Scarlets at Rodney Parade.

"To not be included in the World Cup squad after doing all that training is a hard thing mentally but he has come back in, is looking good and it has given everyone else a boost to see him out there running about,” said Jones.

"The summer, all that preparation and work, should do him the world of good – the Wales players are in incredible nick.

"It's just nice to see Leon back with the squad because he is an important figure for us, a man of the county who has come through the system.

"He has had that disappointment of the World Cup and it's down to him to get back out there and show what a quality player he is.

"It's a great opportunity for him to go out there and play a lot of rugby this season, because as a young prop he just need games."

Ticket prices for the Double Header - including the Worthington's Challenge Trophy - at Rodney Parade are just £10 for Adults and £5 for Juniors. Buy in advance to save on match day ticket prices, with adult ticket prices on the day £12.
