TRIO MAKE FULL DEBUTS IN EURO SHOWDOWN

Prop Chris Coleman, scrum-half Rhodri Davies and flanker Ben Fry will all make their full debuts as Dragons face Timisoara Saracens in the European Challenge Cup at Rodney Parade on Friday night.

Interim Head Coach Ceri Jones makes a total of 11 changes to the side that faced Scarlets last weekend as Dragons look to claim victory in the Round 5 tie on home soil.

Dragons Academy product and Wales Under-20 international prop Coleman will pack down alongside skipper Richard Hibbard and Gerard Ellis up front.

Lock Joe Davies will play alongside Matthew Screech in the second row while talented flanker Fry, who impressed in the friendly with Russia in November, is named alongside Nic Cudd and James Benjamin in the back row.

Davies is given the nod in the number nine jersey and forms a new-look half back paring with Jason Tovey, who this week signed a contract until the end of the season at Dragons.

Jordan Williams returns at full back while Hallam Amos moves to outside centre to partner Jack Dixon in midfield. Dafydd Howells and Will Talbot-Davies are named on the wings.

Fit-again back row Ollie Griffiths returns among the replacements with Gavin Henson, Rhys Lawrence, Nicky Thomas, Huw Taylor and Jarryd Sage also called into the match day squad.

Coach Ceri Jones said: “We certainly won’t underestimate Timisoara as they gave us a tough game in Round 1. They have been the leading side in Romanian rugby for the last few seasons and will be determined to give us a big battle.

“Our European dates with Timisoara and Clermont over the next two weeks give us the chance to build crucial momentum before we return to league action.

“It’s vital that we continue to focus on ourselves, take the positives from recent weeks and strive to improve, as we undoubtedly have over the last month.”
