Morgan - Dragons hungry to improve

24/01/2019

Centre Tyler Morgan has spoken about the hunger within the squad to produce positive results in the Guinness PRO14 – and his appetite win back his Wales shirt.

Fit-again ace Morgan is set to feature for Dragons this Saturday as Conference A leaders Munster come to Rodney Parade (kick-off 3pm).

And the 23-year-old is determined to have a big finish to the season and fire his hopes for region and country.

“It’s good to be back,” said Morgan. “I had a bit of a tweak in my knee the last few weeks so I’ve had a few weeks to rest it up and I’m good to go.

“We are looking to get as many wins as we can the rest of the season now.

“There has been a lot going on in the background and off the field, but we have had to focus on the field and stay tight as a group.

“I feel we deserve some wins and some performances now and we are hungry for it.

“It’s going to be a big test against Munster,” he added. “They are top of Conference A in the Guinness PRO14 and going well in Europe.

“Whenever we play then, no matter if they have their internationals, they are a strong team.

“We’ve got good momentum from the last league game at home against Ospreys and we want to carry that on.

“We were disappointed with the Clermont game. Our defence just wasn’t where it needed to be and they are a big team who took advantage.

“We don’t accept that standard. That was reviewed and put to bed early this week and now we move on and learn from it. It wasn’t us.”

As for his international aspirations, Morgan added: “I had a good time in the autumn with Wales and obviously I am disappointed not to get in the Six Nations squad.

“All I can do is carry on with Dragons, try to put performances in and improve my game every day.

“The World Cup is still the aim. Japan is massive and there is a lot of time and games before then. Form can change completely in that time so hopefully I am playing well come the end of the season.”
