When the men of Gwent visited Murrayfield last season they were defeated with a 31-24 loss.
Director of Rugby Lyn Jones said, “Edinburgh have a tradition of some good attacking expansive rugby and their product has developed over the last few years. They played decent rugby against Munster but at the same time I am sure that they will be disappointed about their defensive errors.
“Following Fridays performance against Ulster we are cautiously optimistic about our trip to Murrayfield.”
In the opening home game of the Pro12 Newport Gwent Dragons saw off last season’s runners-up Ulster with a 15-8 win at Rodney Parade. This puts the regional side fifth in the league table above the rest of the Welsh sides.
Director of Rugby Lyn Jones added, “Our game against Ulster was optimistic and accurate; we need to build on that as we come across the challenges ahead.
“We as a new coaching team are still finding out a lot about players and see this coming month as an opportunity to find out a lot more about the players.”
Injury Update from Head Physiotherapist, Ben Searle “Lewis Robling is progressing really well, hopefully he will be back before the end of the month this is the same with Steffan Jones, he is progressing very well and should be back in training in a few weeks. So it’s great to see they are both ahead of schedule.
“Darren Waters is still a way off but he is progressing well and Ashley Smith, Wayne Evans and Tom Prydie should all come back into training next week.”
