For the fourth year in a row Newport RFC have won the Men of Gwent Sevens tournament. Captain Craig Hill lead his team to a 19-12 victory against Cross Keys.
Newport won Pool B without a single loss. Deciding the winner of Pool A was harder - the group decider between Cross Keys and the Stash Sharks ended in a 17-17 draw. Cross Keys eventually went through on points difference.
Player of the tournament - selected by match officials, WRU referees and district officials - went to Newport RFC winger, Owen Broad. Broad was the top try scorer of the tournament with seven tries.
It was a successful day off the pitch as well. Little Stars rugby and Ezeee Play provided off-the-field activities to our younger supporters and Friends of Newport Rugby organised a popular beer festival for the older fans.
Everyone here at the Dragons would like to thank Worthington's and all the staff that continue to make the Men of Gwent Sevens a success.
