The Dragons U16s Regional and Development squads travelled to Leicester Tigers to play their U16s teams in the age grades first fixtures of the season.
The Development squad produced an extremely pleasing performance beating the Tigers 2nd Team by 8 tries to 2, with most notable performances coming once again from Gianni Kanda, Chris Price, Patrick Knight, Tomas Williams and Corey Bray. Head Coach, Paul Edwards, commented 'this was a really pleasing performance from all of the squad and it was great to see things come together following two months of training three times a week. There were a number of players who have put in performances that I feel will push them into the Regional squad before long.'
The Regional squad drew with the Tigers 1st Team with both teams scoring a try a piece. The performance lacked the consistency of the first game as 36 players were given game time over the three twenty minute periods, but parts of the game gave the coaches a lot of encouragement. Head Coach, Grant Robson, commented 'that the fixture was very useful to judge how far prepared we are with the London Saracens visiting us next week leading into our first Regional game against the Blues South the following week.
