Newport Gwent Dragons Outside Half Jason Tovey will play for Newport RFC this weekend as Dragons Rugby Manager Robert Beale releases twenty-one players to the five Principality Premiership clubs within the region for Saturday’s games.
Nineteen year old Tovey, who was superb for the Dragons last weekend scoring 15 points from a try, two penalties and two conversions in the EDF Energy Cup game against Newcastle Falcons, returns to his former club for selection this weekend.
Meanwhile Dragons back row Danny Lydiate is released to Pontypool having made an impressive home EDF debut whilst gaining a further 53 minutes of Dragons rugby since picking up a potentially career-threatening neck injury against Perpignan last year in the Heineken Cup.
Also, from the forwards, Lloyd Burns, Alex Jones and Adam Brown will be released to Cross Keys, Newport and Bedwas respectively and from the backs, James Lewis will join Ebbw Vale, Gareth Maule will play for Cross Keys and Tal Selley will be released to Pontypool.
Dragons Rugby Manager Robert Beale said:
“Saturday’s home game with Glasgow Warriors will give another indication as to the progress of our developing squad and with five tough away games to come the strength in depth of the squad will surely be put to the test.
“Once again I have tried to assist all the Principality Premiership clubs with the placement of players this week, however it will certainly become more difficult over the forthcoming weeks to release Dragons players, as the well being of the squad will be of paramount importance in getting through the tough schedule ahead.”
