Greetings all
The team is starting to build some momentum and a real sense of self-belief. While our last result was hard fought and not overly pretty it’s been great to back up with consecutive wins. Hopefully this is the onset of some consistency in our game!
Tonight I thought I'd take the liberty to change my normal captain’s shout, and give you an introduction by way of a casual chat/interview I had with Rory Sidey earlier this week. Rory is the teams most recent overseas signing from Australia....
TW: Who did you play for in Australia?
RS: My most recent side prior to coming out here were Western Sydney Rams in the Oz national comp and also the Waratahs 'A' team.
TW: How does the rugby compare over here so far?
RS: I must admit all these close games have been a bit stressful and a bit hard on the heart. I also thinks that here in the UK the footy is a lot more physical. I also feel that the crowds over here love these close encounters and kind of treat them as a war or battle and are satisfied with close wins. Back home supporters and media can be quite critical if your not winning and scoring multiple tries along the way.
TW: What are your thoughts on the season to date?
RS: Obviously we had a bit of a slow and I would say unlucky start, however we're starting to learn from it and the last two victories have shown that the team knows how to win.
TW: Apparently your studying law?
RS: Yes, I'm into my 4th year and nearly there. I'm currently doing a Family Law paper this semester. I'm pretty keen to give being a solicitor a go once I've finished playing rugby.
TW: What’s your favourite holiday destination?
RS: Hard to go past the Gold Coast at home.
TW: Anything you miss from home?
RS: My girlfriend and my dog.
TW: What’s you drink of preference?
RS: Vodka, soda and lime
TW: Who have you roomed with so far this season and any bad experiences?
RS: So far I've roomed with Ashley Smith and Gethin Robinson on our away trips. No real bad experiences, however Ashley does use a hell of a lot of hairspray.
TW: Who in the Dragons would you least like to fight?
RS: Long Dog Luke Charteris, I just wouldn't get near him.
TW: Tell us something interesting about yourself?
RS: Haha, I can speak Chinese
