Narraway challenges Dragons to rise up

26/09/2019

Luke Narraway has challenged Dragons XV to learn from their mistakes and produce an improved performance when they tackle Celtic Cup leaders Leinster Rugby on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

Dragons make the trip to Dublin and Energia Park for the Round 6 encounter after defeat to Ulster last weekend at Ystrad Mynach.

Narraway’s men secured a try bonus in the game with the Ulstermen, but were once again on the wrong end of a narrow loss.

And Head Coach Narraway has been direct with his messages to his team this week as they prepare to face a undefeated Leinster side who have swept all before them in the cup competition.

“Leinster are probably the best side in the competition. They haven’t lost yet and it’s going to be tough over there,” said Narraway.

“But I am looking forward to that because I challenged the guys in the changing room after the loss to Ulster.

“I want a big week from us and we have to be harsh on each other and learn from our mistakes.

“Leinster has come at the right time because playing against them in their own back yard, we will have to be massively on it.”

Reflecting on the defeat to Ulster, Narraway added: “Fair play to Ulster, they were clinical in what they did and punished us for our mistakes. I don’t think on the other side of the ball we did that.

“There will be some positives but we are making the same mistakes and have to start learning from those, otherwise we won’t progress.”

Team news for the clash in Dublin will be confirmed on Friday.
