Rosser Gunning for Derby Day

20/03/2019

Wing Jared Rosser insists Dragons are gunning for more derby day glory as they prepare to face Ospreys in the Guinness PRO14 at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

The 21-year-old scored one of his five tries during the current season against this weekend’s opposition in the epic 23-22 victory at Rodney Parade in December 30.

And the speedster is keen to replicate those exploits in Swansea this weekend.
“We’ve talked about making a bad kick look decent with a good chase and that one paid off, but I couldn’t have had a nicer bounce,” smiled Rosser, reflecting on his memorable score.

“There was a bit of confusion between Luke Morgan and Dan Evans at the back, so I’d a little bit of a head start and the line seemed to be getting further and further away, but I got there and took my opportunity.

“It’s up there as one of my favourite tries, especially in the context of the game and the crowd produced a terrific atmosphere.”

The Dragons Academy graduate went on to reveal his excitement ahead of the clash, the toughness of the encounter and importance of winning towards concluding the season positively.

“I really enjoy these types of matches and think about them for weeks, but once the day comes, everyone’s really excited and that sparks something a little different in us,” added Rosser.

“It’s going to be a dogfight and it’ll be really tough. Last time, it was about matching their physicality, so that’s going to be key again.

“They’ve got a very good back row, like most Welsh teams, and they’re physical across the park.

“They’ve got Welsh internationals across the board, so it’s going to be a challenge, although we’re really excited for it and when we get our chances, we need to take them.”

“We’re really gunning for it - we’ve got four games left and we’re hoping to finish the season on a high.”
