Moriarty Key For Wales - Hibbs

21/02/2019

Richard Hibbard has backed his Dragons team-mate Ross Moriarty to play a key role on Saturday if Wales are to successfully continue their winning run with the Cardiff clash against England.

Moriarty was unavailable for selection for the Dragons over the Christmas and New Year fixtures, but has returned in recognisable fashion for Wales in the Guinness Six Nations.

The 24-year-old played a leading role in the tournament opener against France - a performance which didn't surprise, and certainly impressed, Hibbard immensely.

"Everyone was asking is Ross going to be match fit – I think he proved to everyone against France he was back. The bloke is an absolute machine," said Hibbard.

"To come back and not just play a full 80-minutes, but to perform the way he did was so impressive. It speaks volumes for him.

"He is so raw and aggressive and will not take a backwards step. He doesn’t care who is in front of him and I love that about him."

Hibbard is backing his countrymen to stop the English charge in Cardiff and recalls the 2013 victory over England as a stand out moment in his career.

"I really believe in the boys and that we will get a result," added Hibbard.

"I remember when we beat them (30-3) the whole atmosphere in the stadium was incredible. Before the game you could feel it, during the game it was electric. I have never been involved in a game since with that kind of atmosphere.

"I remember thinking we must have played 30 minutes as I was absolutely blowing. I looked up at the clock and we had played 12 minutes! It was one of those games that was so intense and physical.

"There is no other game like it - It's a dream of every Welsh boy to play in an England and Wales fixture.

"If you look at the England team, they have played every game on the front foot. The key to stopping them is not letting them get momentum and impose the game they want to play on you. People like Ross are key to stopping that.

"He will be one of our main bruisers, if you like, and I have no doubt he is definitely up for it."
