Evans enjoying work with future Dragons

06/02/2019

Forwards ace Lewis Evans has praised the emergence of the undefeated Dragons Under-18s this season – as he enjoys a coaching role to back up his playing exploits with the senior side.

Back row Evans has, for the second season, been part of the coaching team for the Under-18s as they take part in the Regional Age Grade Championship.

And speaking during the 45-3 victory over Ospreys on Tuesday night – that sent the team 14 points clear at the top – he revealed how much he was enjoying his work with the next generation of Dragons.

“It is all about getting involved with the coaching side,” he said. “Myself, Matt O’Brien and Sam Hobbs have been doing this for the second year and Arwel (Robson) has jumped on board as well so it is a pretty good team.

“We’re lucky that we have good group of boys that have put in a number of really good performances.

“Winning makes it easier and more enjoyable, but to be fair from the very beginning of the season the boys have been very good and had a lot of potential. They are really showing it now.

“Our aim now is to get as many of these boys into the Welsh squad and ultimately into the senior team.

“There is a really good spine to the team and when you have a nice blend it looks good to watch as well.”

Dragons Under-18s are back in Regional Age Grade Championship action next Tuesday (February 12) when they face Scarlets Under-18s at Ystrad Mynach (kick-off 7.30pm). FREE entry for Season Members and Under-16s.  Adult tickets are £3 on the night.
