Youngsters from a Newport school got a Six Nations sized surprise this week - when the Dragons Community team visited with two very special trophies!
Schoolchildren from Caerleon Lodge Hill Primary School off Roman Way in Newport have been receiving fortnightly rugby lessons as part of the Gateway Rugby programme.
And this week they got even more reason to be inspired and enjoy rugby – as Dragons, led by Community Officer Janice Chappell, made a surprise visit with the Six Nations and Triple Crown trophies.
Mike Sage, Community Manager at Dragons, said: “It was fantastic to go and surprise the children with the two trophies won by Wales – it was great to see all their faces.
“The children have been taking part in Tag Rugby festivals as part of the Gatewaty Rugby programme and hopefully getting to see the Six Nations and Triple Crown trophies up close will inspire them even more to keep playing the game.”
Supporters are reminded that the Six Nations Grand Slam trophy and Triple Crown will be proudly on display at Rodney Parade this Sunday afternoon (April 14)
Supporters can visit the Shop at the home of the Dragons between 12noon and 2pm and have pictures taken with the two trophies and admire the silverware.
Season Members who visit the Shop this Sunday will not only be able to renew for the 2019/20 campaign but can also take advantage of a special double discount afternoon on items in store.
Fans are advised to arrive early to avoid any disappointment as the event will only run between 12noon and 2pm before the trophies continue their tour of Wales.
