Tovey supporting Euro training

Dragons have this week welcomed back a familiar face with legendary fly half Jason Tovey training with the region ahead of the European Challenge Cup clash with Northampton Saints.

Tovey, the region’s leading points scorer over two spells at Rodney Parade, has been helping with preparations with injuries to several first team players in the number ten jersey, including Gavin Henson (knee) and Arwel Robson (ankle).

The 29-year-old has most recently been in action for Principality Premiership club Cross Keys after two years with Edinburgh.

“We’ve had (Jason) Tovey in because we’ve had some backs down with injuries,” said Defence Coach Hendre Marnitz.

“Tovey is an experienced bloke and I had a good one-on-one with him this morning. He has been away from Wales and has grown as a human being, not only as a rugby player.

“He is very excited to be here and has a very good skill set. He is an ultimate pro, it’s good to have him around and people can learn from him.

“We are going to take it week by week but at the moment he is in and is keen to be here. We will see how it evolves.”
