Dragons hooker Dee and Cardiff Blues prop Lewis will be hoping to line up against each other when the two teams clash in Guinness PRO14 action.
However, ahead of the first Welsh derby of the season, the two friends away from rugby opted for some adrenaline pumping fun at Supakart in Newport to see who would claim early bragging rights.
Dee was the eventual winner behind the wheel – securing a scorching best lap time of 45.605, narrowly ahead of Lewis who clocked a 46.108.
And the front row duo predicted it would be just as close on the field as the countdown to Saturday’s big Welsh derby clash hits top gear.
Dee said: “It’s always a big game with Cardiff Blues. They are the nearest team to us so we want to get one up on them and they want to get one up on us.
“There are friendships and you know boys in the other team, so there is bragging rights and some banter. You have to be proud of where you come from.
“There is no better place to play than Rodney Parade when the crowd are singing. It is that 16thman and it really does help that much.
Lewis added: “It’s always a bit different when one of your friends is running at you, it is more personal and good fun.
“You expect a big crowd which adds to the derby mentality. It is a different atmosphere and more hostile, which makes the game more exciting. We’re all looking forward to it.”
