After taking an early 10-nil lead, the Dragons went down 45-13 to Southern Kings in Port Elizabeth who had previously not won a game in the Guinness Pro14 this campaign.
"The game is all about putting pressure into points and we couldn’t do that," said Landman who felt scores for the home team either side of the interval changed the game.
"They scored just before and just after half time and ask any player that really puts a dampener on the team and team morale and we couldn’t fight back from that.
"We don’t expect to lose any game, but we knew what attacking threats the Kings had at the back.
"We didn’t want to play a loose game and needed to exit well in a northern hemisphere style of rugby, but we didn’t manage to do that.
"We knew what we needed to do but we couldn’t manage our game plan and we paid the price. They got a lot of loose ball at the back and their back three tore us apart."
Landman is sure the young players in the squad will benefit from this season and focus on the final games of this campaign to give something back to supporters.
"We’ve worked extremely hard this whole year but we need to find the right formula that suits our team and get the building blocks to go forward. I think we’ve given a dozen players their Pro14 debuts this season so its been good to bring the young players through and give them experience for the future.
"We’ve got four games left, one at home, two in Italy and one at the Principality Stadium, so we just need to play with pride now."
