“We’re on the up” - Landman

After recording consecutive bonus point victories at home so far in 2018 Dragons lock Rynard Landman is looking forward to the next set of home matches as the Guinness Pro14 returns to Rodney Parade.

First up is Conference A leaders Glasgow Warriors, then it’s the visit of Benetton Treviso the following Sunday and a clash with Ebbw Vale at Eugene Cross Park.

“It’s been a good block for us,” said Landman. “It was a disappointing Christmas but after coming out of that it is good to see we’re on the up.

“Glasgow will be a good test for us. Treviso have been doing really well this year against all odds, and then we are really looking forward to the game at Ebbw Vale.

“Glasgow keep the ball alive. They have a good set piece and good strong runners outside. “They have a big scrum, big driving wall and big line out. We have to be on par there. We need to be on our toes and defensively on par. We have two wins at home so I am confident we will go out and get a good result.”

With Cory Hill deservedly keeping his place in the Wales line-up for England on Saturday after an excellent performance against Scotland, Landman has been linking up with Joe Davies in the second row, a player that Landman is happy to partner.

“For me it is good to play in the 5 shirt again with Joe. Me and Joe go well together because he is a tight player but will run with the ball a little. He is an up and coming star, a physical fella. He is strong in the gym, strong on the field so it is good for me to play with him. We are taking it week for week and want to be the best we can be and form a little partnership. We complement each other quite nicely – he is quite clever. He wants to learn.”

“We want to make power a point and a strong aspect to our game, so strong penalties, kicking for goals, driving line outs. If you can get 15 points from those ‘Power points’, as well as the style we are playing at the moment, scoring 3 tries a match, then we will probably score 25-30 points per game, which is ideal to put you in a winning spot.”
