Dragons May Have Amos Back

Dragons face Glasgow this Friday in the first of three home Guinness Pro14 fixtures with the hope that Amos, who has scored four tries in nine games this season, could be released from Wales camp.

Wales speedster Hallam Amos could return on the wing for the Dragons this Friday for the clash with Glasgow at Rodney Parade (kick-off 7.35pm)

As Wales take on England with only one change from last weekend's thumping of Scotland, both Cory Hill and Elliot Dee are named in the match day squad to go to Twickenham, but Amos sits the game out after returning from an ankle injury against Cardiff Blues on Boxing Day.

Amos had a superb autumn campaign, scoring tries against both Australia and Georgia and has been training fully with Warren Gatland’s squad even warming up with the match day 23 before kick-off at Principality Stadium as a travelling reserve.

“Bernard [Jackman, head coach] is in conversation with the Welsh camp,” said defence coach Hendre Marnitz. “They have a big game on the weekend and it will depend on how they are looking squad-wise.

“Hopefully there is a possibility we can get him, but we will know as the week goes on.

“Hallam could slot in at short notice, he has been with us for a while and is familiar with how we play – you could pick him at wing, full-back or outside centre. I don’t think it would be difficult for him to slot in if we get the good news.

“We have to keep building and get better week on week,” he said. “Worcester was a very nice game to watch and any neutral in the stands would have enjoyed the spectacle.

“Our composure was good in a game that could have gone either way, we were very good with a couple of tactical kicks that went in behind then defensively we didn’t do anything stupid at the end.

“It’s always good to get a win that you had to work hard for.”

Glasgow lead Conference A and have lost just once in the league, whilst the Dragons are aiming to continue their winning run at home in 2018 after success over Bordeaux and Worcester Warriors.
