Dee and Jared Rosser crossed the whitewash before a dramatic ending saw Sam Davies miss a penalty moments after Jason Tovey slotted three points for the lead.
And front row ace Dee was quick to thank the supporters for the part they played in an unforgettable encounter at Rodney Parade.
“The support was truly amazing,” said Dee. “There is no better place to play than Rodney Parade when crowd is singing. They were our 16thman and we thank them for their support.
“It was great to get a deserved win at Rodney Parade. It was backs against the wall at times and it might not have been as pretty as we would have liked, but it was the result we needed.
“We showed great heart tonight,” he added. “We were hurting from last week when we felt we deserved a draw at Cardiff Blues.
“It was about expressing ourselves and we put in an emotional performance.
“It is a big game next weekend against Scarlets, but you want to play in these big derby games.”
