Newport Gwent Dragons are looking to recruit a full-time TACKLE Project Coordinator to join the existing Community Department.
TACKLE is a new programme funded by BT Supporters Club that engages, inspires and motivates disadvantaged young people in Wales, to reach new goals, greater opportunities and a better life. The project will deliver sport engagement activity and link educational sessions based on a mobile street ‘cage rugby’. TACKLE will create the first fully collaborative community rugby activity & education programme in joint partnership across all four Welsh regions delivering alternative pathways to education.
We are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with good communication skills to lead a brand new project that will be delivered by all 4 regions in Wales.
We are looking for an individual who has the ability to plan, deliver and evaluate high quality rugby and educational activities with young people who are risk of becoming NEET.
You will combine your passion for rugby and sport with strong organisational, communication and administrative skills and well as being able to support young people to achieve educational outcomes.
You must have the ability to engage positively and build relationships with challenging young people, motivating them to undertake a study programme and additional courses, using rugby as the vehicle for engagement and delivery. You will also be expected to be able to communicate with a wide range of strategic partners and the other coordinators across the regions.
The position will be based at Rodney Parade and due to the nature of the job you will be expected to work evenings, school holidays and match days to meet community objectives.
Person Specification:
- A passion for Education & Sports with an understanding of wider issues related to sport, education, health & wellbeing
- Minimum Level 1 WRU coaching award
- Experience of coaching & teaching within a range of environments
- Experience of working on projects within the education sector
- Experience of project coordination and reporting
- Experience of working with children with challenging behaviour
- Knowledge of current teaching, coaching and training processes and how to adapt and target participants according to ability
- An enthusiastic and committed individual who will ‘go the extra mile’ to deliver results
- Good organisation and time management skills
- Excellent communication and motivation skills
- Valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- An ability to inspire others
- Other NGB Level 1/Level 2 qualifications
- Experience of working in a youth work setting
- Ability to use social media and other promotional channels
