Newport Gwent Dragons Squad Update

Newport Gwent Dragons have under a week left to prepare for their match against Glasgow Warriors and the medical team have issued the following update on the squad.

 

Angus O’Brien

Last weekend Angus O’Brien made an appearance for Premiership side Crosskeys in their win against Ebbw Vale. During the match the flyhalf inured his ribs and medical staff at the Dragons are sure that it will be resolved in the next few weeks.

 

Dorian Jones

The flyhalf is currently suffering with a groin strain. The issue is improving but the  medical staff are currently monitoring him.

 

Matthew Pewtner

Wing Matthew Pewtner has yet to begin his return to play protocol following his concussion during the Singha Premiership Sevens Tournament. The 25-year-old is being continuously monitored by the medical team.

 

Jack Dixon

Jack Dixon sustained a kidney injury against the Scarlets during a pre-season friendly. He is still under review with a specialist and further information will be provided in due course.

 

Andrew Coombs

The international lock is progressing well in rehab with his knee injury and the medical team anticipate him being available late autumn.

 

Pat Leach

Centre Pat Leach is making good progress from surgery he had on his knee during pre-season; his rehabilitation is on-going.

 

Keagan Bale

Young prop Keagan Bale suffered a knee injury during training and recently underwent scans which have revealed that he will require surgery.

 

Thomas Rhys Thomas

Dragons skipper Thomas Rhys Thomas is undergoing rehab for a foot injury. The Dragons medical team believe that the issue should be resolved over the coming weeks.

 

Tom Prydie

Wing Tom Prydie suffered a knee injury during the Leinster match at the RDS Arena. The initial scans were optimistic but the Dragons medical team are awaiting a full report from a specialist.

 

Hallam Amos

Following the Rugby World Cup victory against England, Hallam Amos sustained a shoulder injury and has undergone surgery. He will begin rehab once the stitches have been removed.
