Dragons October Skills Camps a Huge Success

Over 40 children attend half-term camps

Jon Pallett | 30/10/2015

This week saw two October Skills Camps taking place at Rodney Parade. Tuesday’s camp was a Basic Skills Camp aimed at 8-11 year olds with Wednesday’s Intensive Skills Development camp aimed at 10-14 year olds. Both camps were the Dragon’s Community Team.

Camps included skills coaching as well as the chance to meet a Dragons player with Carl Meyer attending on Tuesday and Dorian Jones (pictured) on Wednesday. Both players posed for photographs with the children and signed autographs.  Everyone taking part also received a certificate, and other Dragon’s goodies.

Newport Gwent Dragons Community Manager Mike Sage said “we were delighted we were able to follow on from the success of our summer holiday camps by offering these two dates in half term. We had over 40 children taking part across the two days and it was great to see so many children learning and having fun at the same time”.

There are plans to run more one-day camps in the February half term as well as longer camps during the Easter and summer school holidays. Details will be released in due course.
