Following their fantastic win over Edinburgh rugby the night before, over 250 guests saw players and staff honoured for their achievements over the past 12 months.
There were five awards given during the evening along with a numerous caps for players being honoured for their 50th and 100th Dragons start.
Jason Tovey, Lewis Evans, Hallam Amos, and Andrew Coombs were among those given their 50th and 100th caps for the Region which were awarded by Dragons chairman Martyn Hazell, with a farewell mention to those moving on from the Region or retiring.
Wing Hallam Amos and centre Jack Dixon both took the Young Player of the Year award after their fellow players voted them both as worthy winners. The young guns were joint winners of the award, which was sponsored by Clarity Copiers, after their fantastic season for the Region.
24-year –old James Thomas took the Players Player of the Year award, which was also voted for by the players. This award was given to him by Lyndon Bigmore, as his fellow players recognised his impressive form with the Dragons where he topped the stats for the most tackles and most carries.
One of our most interesting awards of the evening was Clubman of the Year. This is judged by players, management and staff from all department of the organisation. The award is there to recognise the person who has gone above and beyond their job description. All players, management and staff are eligible for the award, but after the nominations were tallied up it went to Rodney Parade Head of Operations Mark Jones. This was not only for all of his fantastic work he does day in and out, it was for his outstanding efforts during the time Rodney Parade hosted over 2,000 members of the police force during the NATO conference.
T. Rhys Thomas was named Try of the Season, which was voted for on the night. He has had a fantastic season with over 25 appearances for the Men of Gwent including a number of starts as Skipper. Hallam Amos, Carl Meyer and Elliot Dee were amongst other players who were nominated for the award.
The final award was the Supporters Player of the Year, voted for via the Dragons Facebook and Twitter page and newportgwentdragons.com, was won by James Thomas as he secured his second award of the evening. He took the award just ahead of Nic Cudd, Hallam Amos and Jonathan Evans.
