The Men of Gwent scored 48-12 against the English side whom they played at their training ground in Ystrad Mynach.

The Welsh Region's fans got their first glimpse of newcomers Adam Warren, Nick Scott, Ed Jackson, Shaun Knight and Charlie Davies as well as welcoming a few Dragons favourites back to the pitch after recovering from their injuries.

The first half was full of action as the Dragons came out of the starting blocks fighting after a long few months of pre-season preparation. They were put through their paces against Nottingham as rhe English side battled hard against the 32-man squad.

The opening points were thanks to Dragons fly-half Jason Tovey after the home side won a penalty at the scrum and he kicked a fine shot through the posts. However it was the opposition who went over for the first try of the evening but it wasn’t converted.

The Dragons replied with their own try through hooker Hugh Gustafson and Tovey adding the extras to put the home side back into the lead.  However Nottingham came back once again as their Captain Paul Grant scored their second try of the evening and flyhalf Dan Mugford added the conversion at the break.

Half Time: Dragons 10 – Nottingham 12

Newport Gwent Dragons came back out with 12 changes made to the team, one of which being flanker Nic Cudd who broke away from the Nottingham defence to score the Dragons first try of the second half. Angus O’Brien, another replacement, added the extras. The Dragons didn’t stop there with the tries as prop Phil Price and number 8 Nick Crosswell crossed for two more fantastic tries.
