Once again BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park will play host to the four Welsh Regions as they battle against each other in order to gain a place in the final at the Twickenham Stoop on Friday 28th August.
Dragons Director of Rugby, Lyn Jones has put his faith in experienced sevens coach Nick Wakley for the second year running, after Wakley took the squad last year to the final; losing out to Gloucester Rugby in the final clash of the evening.
The Dragons squad is a fantastic mixture of youth and experience with talented International sevens player Geraint Rhys Jones taking the role of Captain this year. The skilled sevens player is joined in the squad by fellow Dragons players Matthew Pewtner, Dorian Jones, Harri Keddie and Ollie Griffiths. Three players from the Dragons Academy have also made the 12-man squad as speedsters Lloyd Lewis, Arwel Robson and Owen Davies are given the nod. Premiership players Luke Crocker and Owen Williams are in from Ebbw Vale RFC as well as Newport RFC contributing Elliot Frewen and Jonny Lewis.
Looking forward to the tournament, which kicks off on Saturday at 15:15, Wakley commented: “We've got a similar sort of side to last year and Lyn and Kingsley have been great in releasing Dorian, (Jones) Rhys (Jones) and 'Pewts'.
"I couldn't have asked for a better set-up and they have been very forthcoming with players. Lyn has got a winning mentality and doesn't want to go there to make up the numbers.”
Wakley continued: "Lyn has backed us with the pros and we've got some cracking players with the likes of Luke Crocker, Lloyd Lewis and Jonny Lewis, who has been on the sevens circuit for some time.
"There will be loads of leaders out there and we are looking pretty strong."
