“It shows what can be achieved when all four pro teams, Pro Rugby Wales and the WRU work together successfully. It’s a record crowd that the professional game in Wales can be proud of but the hard work continues and we’d hope this is a positive indication for the future and what can all build on.

“Since becoming WRU Chairman Gareth Davies has often spoken about the importance of unity in Welsh rugby and today is a clear illustration of what can be done when we are united and working as partners.

“Credit to the Ospreys and Scarlets who worked alongside the "host" regions Cardiff Blues and Dragons with real commitment to make this event a showcase of Welsh pro rugby.

"Hard work on and off the field has created an excitement at this fixture which has engaged with our rugby communities and new customers as well.

“Our sincere thanks go to all our loyal customers and regular supporters of pro rugby for their backing of this fixture and we hope the many thousands of supporters enjoyed a great day out."

WRU Chairman Gareth Davies has thanked the Welsh public as it was announced that Judgement Day III set a record attendance for a Guinness PRO12 match.

"To set both a Regional record at the Millennium Stadium and a PRO12 record is testiment to all those involved.

"We were treated to two entertaining games on the field and I am sure this event and Regional rugby will continue to go from strength to strength."
