Dragons Delighted with 4 in Premiership

Ebbw Vale join Bedwas, Crosskeys and Newport in the Premiership - 4 from our region, and 4 Days left for EB Season Tickets!

Katie Vizard | 27/06/2014

After a four year absence Ebbw Vale have now joined Bedwas, Crosskeys and Newport RFC in the Principality Premiership.

The Steelmen clinched the brilliant 50-7 victory against Beddau in April 2014 and will not look back to the Swalec Championship. This is the fourth time the club has won the title, but due to trouble with their facilities they have been unable to move back up in previous years.

Cross Keys also had a successful year as they made it to the finals of the Principality Premiership but just missed out to Pontypridd as they beat Keys 38-17 at Sardis Road.

Having all four sides in the Premiership is a great feat for the Gwent Region.

Each of these teams will also go on to compete for a place in the British and Irish Cup as the Dragons representative.

The draw for the five pools has been made, even though the qualifiers of the Principality Premiership are not yet known. Similarly to last year, each of the Welsh regions will put forward a representative for the competition. The playoffs for this position are due to take off during pre-season as Cross Keys will host Ebbw Vale and Bedwas host Newport RFC.

Pool 1: London Scottish, Wales 2, Bristol, Connacht.

Pool 2: Rotherham, Leeds, Ulster Ravens, Wales 4.

Pool 3: Worcester, Nottingham, Moesley, Munster.

Pool 4: Wales 1, Cornish Pirates, Doncaster, Bedford.

Pool 5: Leinster A, Plymouth, Wales 3, Jersey.

Don’t forget that if you already have your 2014/15 Season Ticket for one of our Principality Premiership clubs or a Swalec Championship club then you can receive an extra 10% discount off your Newport Gwent Dragons Season Ticket.

Only four days remain in which to qualify for incredible Early Bird savings!  You have until 30 June to sign up for deals from £99 for adults,  from £50 concessions and from just £10 for juniors.
