The 38-year-old has lived in Wales with his wife Helen and three kids for the past nine years. Grzonka, who still plays for Llanharan 2nds, has joined the men of Gwent with a vast amount of commercial experience behind him. This includes working as Sales Director at Glamorgan Cricket and as Head of Sales and Marketing for English Aviva Premiership side Gloucester Rugby.
The appointment is a great boost to the region and comes at a crucial period in the clubs development, as he leads the commercial operations into the up-coming season.
On his recent appointment, Grzonka said, “It’s great to be here at the Dragons, it has a proper rugby club feel about it.
“I have attended Rodney Parade, on a match day as a supporter a number of times, and have witnessed firsthand the great buzz around the ground amongst both the fans and sponsors.
“The Dragons club, in the Bisley Stand, plays host to businesses from the region intermingling on a match day and there appeared to be plenty of deals being done. That is exactly the kind of environment that I want to harbour and foster at the club.
“The aim is to make Rodney Parade a place where business is done both in the hospitality suites during the games and in our conference facilities on non-match days.
“I look forward to getting to know our existing partners and developing new relationships with the business community in the region.”
Rodney Parade Ltd’s chief executive, Gareth Davies added, “Pete’s appointment is fantastic news for Newport Gwent Dragons Rugby. He has demonstrated significant commercial success with Gloucester rugby and has always demonstrated he has the skills and self-awareness to lead from the front. He will bring great insight and energy to the role and will be a key appointment in the Region's future success.
“He has demonstrated to us he has the drive and ambition to be a part of what we are doing here and I can't think of anyone better to help us shape our off-field efforts going forward.
“His deep knowledge of the sport and the industry combined with his commercial experience leave us in no doubt that he will make this role a success.”
