The first-ever Welsh stage of the Premiership Rugby Sevens is due to take place on Saturday 26th July (KO 19:15) at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.
The men of Gwent’s, director of rugby Lyn Jones gives us his perspective on the Premiership Sevens Tournament and talks about the talent he has chosen to represent the Dragons.
“I think that it’s a great idea. The sevens have a long tradition in Wales which has disappeared over the last 20 years. This is a great opportunity to rekindle everyones love for the game. I did this with London Welsh two years ago and the players and fans both enjoyed it and it turned out to be a really good night which we did quite well.”
“I think with sevens rugby it exposes peoples skills and abilities and we’ve got a really good mix of players from the Wales U20s squad playing and representing us and you have got to see a lot of stars of the future on show here.”
The four Welsh Regions will battle it out over games of 20 minutes finishing off on a high note with Newport Gwent Dragons against hosts Cardiff Blues.
Game 1 Ospreys v Cardiff Blues
Game 2 Newport Gwent Dragons v Scarlets
Game 3 Newport Gwent Dragons v Ospreys
Game 4 Cardiff Blues v Scarlets
Game 5 Ospreys v Scarlets

The two top Welsh Regions from the competition will qualify for the Series Final at the Twickenham Stoop on Friday 8th August.
