The off-season presents an ideal opportunity for players to rest up and/or undergo surgery in an attempt to clear up any long standing niggles. A number of Dragons players have taken this opportunity following a tough season with a number of players going under the knife.
Wales under 20s stars Luc Jones and Tyler Morgan are recovering from knee and foot injuries respectively with a view to return to action late August/early September.
Recently returned hooker, Rhys Buckley is currently rehabilitating from a shoulder injury and is looking to make a comeback in time for the pre-season friendlies.
Full back, Hallam Amos has undergone a shoulder operation which ruled him out of the South Africa summer tour with Wales. Amos is due to return to full fitness in two months time to compliment the Dragons’ attacking talent.
Prop, Phil Price and centre, Ashley Smith have both undergone foot surgery and have a date set for return in the early autumn.
Cory Hill is currently being reintegrated into training under the watchful eye of the new head physio to bolster the regions second row options.
Promising new prop, David Young, is undergoing rehabilitation for an ankle operation and is looking towards a return during the Dragons’ pre-season friendlies.
Finally, versatile back Ross Wardle, has been out of action with a knee injury since the Dragons win against Treviso. His return is approximated for December following surgery to clear up ligament damage.
The Dragons will enjoy their first run out of 2014/15 when they take part in the Premiership Rugby 7s BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park next Saturday evening (KO 19:15).
