Newport Gwent Dragons are delighted to announce that Aviva Premiership Director of the Year 2013 nominee Lyn Jones will be taking the helm at the region. Jones, who joins the region as Director of Rugby has Welsh experience through his time coaching at the Ospreys, and is no stranger to the men of Gwent having worked with the Dragons as a consultant in 2009.
“This is a crucial appointment for the Dragons” said Newport Gwent Dragons Chairman Martyn Hazell. “Last season was a difficult one for us at the region, but having brought our finances under control, we are looking to build our team for the future.
“With some key signings made during the off-season, we are confident that Lyn has the experience and expertise to support our coaching team and ensure that we get the very best out of our group of young, talented players.”
Dragons Chief Executive Chris Brown added “Having stabilised the business and now strengthened the rugby, we believed we have a sustainable product that will secure the future of rugby at Rodney Parade for years to come.”
Robert Beale will remain at the region as Dragons’ Team Manager whilst Assistant Coach Rob Appleyard has left the Dragons by mutual consent.
