The blue and gold kit evokes the medieval kingdom of Gwent which existed from the end of Roman Rule in Britain in about the 5th century until the Norman conquest of England in the 11th century and was reputed to have been founded by one of the knights of the Round Table.
The shirt has been created around the coat of arms of the original kingdom in order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the rugby region.
“With the 10th anniversary coming up, we wanted to mark the year with something different,” said Dragons Chief Executive Chris Brown. “Our region has a great deal of history, both on and off the field, and our shirt marks our links with the past as well as putting a marker down for our vision for the future.
Supporters were treated to an afternoon of pageantry at the launch with an opportunity to meet the Dragons squad, including new signings Richie Rees, Rhys Thomas and returning Dragon Jason Tovey who rejoined the region from the Blues.
