Competitors had to eat as many pies as possible in the space of 10 minutes; the regional boys were joined by racing driver Fraser O’Brien, Olympic swimmer Ieuan Lloyd and boxing title challenger Wayne Ellis.
Sponsored by the famous Clark’s Pie Company, who are celebrating their centenary year, the event was to raise money for George Thomas Hospice Care, which is a major provider of specialist palliative care to those suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. When all sponsorship money is collected, the event is expected to raise over £3,000.
The Charity Clark’s Pie eating Competition was a big success last night at the Walkabout, with Ian Nimmo coming second for fastest pie eaten achieving a very quick 32 seconds. He also came joint second for most pies eaten with 5 ½, a total equalled by fellow player Andy Tuilagi.
