Promising Dragons tight head prop Nathan Buck has penned a new 3 year contract with Newport Gwent Dragons which will keep him at the region until the end of the 2014/2015 season.
Nathan has made a huge impact in his first season with the Dragons, initially joining on a development contract. Enforced retirements by senior front row players thrust Buck into the starting fold this season and he went on to be one of the more regular starters in the squad.
Buck made an impressive 27 appearances, including 21 starts and has been acknowledged by Welsh international selector Robin McBryde as one to watch for the future. It is these international prospects and the chance to further develop and hone his skills that are key to Buck resigning at the Dragons.
Dragons Director of Rugby Rob Beale was also hoping that Buck would continue his development at the Dragons. "Nathan is a young man that I feel has a very bright future ahead of him” said Beale. "I think this new deal is just reward for the effort that Nathan has put in, because he has had an extremely tough few years.”
“His performances last season were exceptional and to be involved in 27 games after having a potentially career-ending knee injury was fantastic. We are not blessed in terms of tightheads in Wales and I believe he has potential to push for international honours.”
