Tag Stars on Parade
The start of the season is an exciting time for all of us who work here at Rodney Parade, there is a real sense of adventure and anticipation, and with the recent wins that were recorded by the Dragons, Newport RFC and the County there is a buzz about the place.
Someone who enjoyed the unique atmosphere of playing here at what is generally acknowledged as the best rugby surface in Wales, were the young players that represented their clubs, NHSOB and Bedwas Under 9’s who entertained the crowd with their skills and enthusiasm at both half time and following the first Dragons match against the Men of Gwent Premier Select XV.
They played tag rugby and had the crowd cheering for them and many stayed behind after the main match to enjoy the sight of two teams giving it everything they had.
They were a credit to their clubs and to their parents, they have set a very high standard of rugby, one both the Dragons and Newport RFC will do well to follow!
The players were rewarded for their efforts when presented with trophies by community partners, Taylor Wimpey. Sophie and Glenn, employees of Taylor Wimpey did the honours. All the children had huge smiles on their faces and loved the experience.
