It was with great pride that the Community Department embarked on its ambitious programme of events for this week as it was the first time that they have been involved with the Prince’s Trust.
It is aimed at giving young people aged between 16-24, an opportunity to improve both their CV’s and their self-esteem. When the 8 young men turned up at exactly the right time and immediately started to bond with each other community manager Mike Sage knew that they were immediately ‘on side’.
“I can’t fault these guys for their enthusiasm, willingness and their determination” said a beaming Mike,
“They have been up for every challenge and have responded excellently to the demands of the course.”
Prince's Trust leader, Elleanor has also been impressed with the take up and the deliver of the course. "Their is an element of fun that gives this course a good glow whilst the tutors are delivering a serious positive message".
They were particularly impressed when they got to meet and discuss issues with Dragons star Ben Castle. Equally Ben, who as a long term injured player, has been racking the hours up in the community by meeting many of the various groups of visitors to Rodney Parade; he too found the groups eagerness infectious,
“A great bunch of lads who really demonstrated their commitment to the Trust and to grabbing their chances with both hands” Ben said.
So there it is, in a momentous week for the team in the community department a huge success to the beginning of what we all hope is a long and fruitful partnership with the Prince's Trust!
