The Dragons U18s defeated London Saracens U18s 20 - 10 today at Blackwood RFC, which was watached by all of the Dragons Senior Coaches. The Dragons dominated posession and teritory for the majority of the game and only some excellent defence from the Saracens kept the home side from scoring a number of other tries.
The first half saw the Dragons pound away at the Saracens line but got held up twice and went in at half time 3 - 3, following a penalty by outside half, Nial Martin.
The second half saw much of the same domination for the Dragons with tries from scrum half Luke Crane and centre Jack Dixon, following a 50 metre break from replacement outside half Ethan Davies. The conversions and a further penalty were converted by Martin.
Will Thomas, Dragons Academy Manager, commented 'this was a pleasing performance for the coaches as a lot of hard work has been put in over the summer, with the players training a minimum of three times a week and most putting in up to ten sessions of their development programme per week. We are fully aware that we aren't going to run over teams such as Saracens so we have to out play them and I think we achieved that today.'
The U18s will play Northampton Saints U18s in their final pre-season at Rodney Parade on 31st August before their first Regional game against RGC1404 in September.
