The Dragons Under 16's last night travelled to Leckwith Stadium to play Blues South in the opening fixture of this seasons Age Grade Programme.
The young Dragons team started well and scored the first try of the game through centre Will Edwards, but were unable to combat an enthusiastic Blues South team, whose counter rucking and ability to score from their opportunities lead to a deserving half time lead.
The same pattern emerged in the second period and although the Dragons scored tries through Tom Williams and Khan Keen it was the Blues South who deserved the win 44 - 19.
Grant Robson the Dragons head coach stated " After a very positive pre season we are bitterly disappointed to lose our first league fixture, I was pleased with some aspects of our play but have lots of work to do over the next couple of weeks to put things right."
The Dragons Under 16's next match is against RGC1404 at Ebbw Vale RFC on Sunday the 11th of September 12.30 Kick Off.
