Newport Gwent Dragons back row Danny Lydiate and wing Will Harries have been included in Warren Gatland’s squad for this season’s autumn international series.
“I’m really pleased to have been selected,” said Harries. “I really enjoyed my time with the Welsh squad over the summer. It was great to train alongside the seasoned internationals and the environment is very different to what I’ve experienced before.
“I think there are a lot of boys playing well and putting their hands up for selection, but we just need to get a few results under our belts to get our season really going.
“I thought we played well at the weekend and I was surprised that the gap in the score was so big. It really felt like we were in that game right up to the end and it was a couple of defensive lapses that let us down. I really believe we don’t need to tweak much to get back on track this season.”
There was obvious disappointment from the Dragons camp with the omission of Luke Charteris, although there may have been consideration for his restricted game time due to injury, but also Gavin Thomas who picked up 2 caps during the summer and Aled Brew who has been playing fantastic rugby for the Region.
