FALETAU GETS WELSH CALL-UP

Dragons rising back row star Toby Faletau has been called up to the Welsh squad.

Dragons rising back row star Toby Faletau has been called up to the Welsh squad.
After being sidelined with injury for the early part of the 2010-11 season, the 19 year old back row has returned to regional rugby with a bang. After just 3 games back for the men of Gwent, culminating in a man of the match performance against the Ospreys on Saturday, Toby has shown his ability to the national selectors.
“We’re obviously delighted with this call-up,” said Rugby Manager Robert Beale. “Our development of young players is well-documented and Toby has taken the chances we have given him and proven himself to be very deserving of this selection.
“Although Toby will be hard to replace in the Dragons side over the next few weeks, our players have proven time and time again that when given the opportunity to step up, they do so.”
The son of Tongean international Kili Faletau, Toby was picked up by the Dragons from Bristol where he was in the Bristol Academy of Sport at Filton College.
His talent was noticed immediately as he was put straight into the Dragons U20 squad and the Dragons Academy and was selected for the Under 20 Welsh side for the 2010 Six Nations is testament to the talent of this up and coming player.
