The Men of Gwent are set to take on London Wasps on Sunday at Rodney Parade (1pm), and despite the freezing temperatures, the game is expected to take place in Newport as planned.
“Obviously the weather conditions at the moment are exceptional,” said Stadium Manager Mark Jones. “ERC rules state that the game has to be played this weekend and that an alternative backup venue has to be sought in the event of the home ground being unavailable.
“We are in discussions with several alternative venues to ascertain which would best meet the needs of our players, partners and supporters. Moving grounds is a complicated process for everyone involved and is one we are looking to avoid if at all possible.
“We will keep our supporters informed as the process continued but the game is definitely scheduled to be played at Rodney Parade. Any changes to that situation will be communicated as soon as they happen.”
