SOWDEN-TAYLOR LOOKING FORWARD TO FACING THE BLUES

After leaving the Cardiff City Stadium for pastures new at Rodney Parade in the summer, Robin Sowden-Taylor and Scott Morgan return to the home of the Cardiff Blues sooner than anticipated

After leaving the Cardiff City Stadium for pastures new at Rodney Parade in the summer, Robin Sowden-Taylor and Scott Morgan return to the home of the Cardiff Blues sooner than anticipated.

Sowden-Taylor spent the best part of nine years at Cardiff Arms Park and then the Cardiff City Stadium first with the Cardiff RFC side and then the Blues.  The Welsh International openside has made more than 100 appearances for the region and regularly battled for a starting spot with Martyn Williams.

But after joining the Men of Gwent, the 28-year-old made his first appearance last week with 30 minutes against London Irish and is looking forward to locking horns with his former teammates.

“London Irish was my first game for the Dragons and I really enjoyed it”, said Sowden-Taylor.

“I only played half an hour but felt good.  I’ve had a slight tear in my Achilles since last season, but I have been looked after well since joining.  It was my first run out and it was nice to be on the right side of the Rodney Parade crowd for once.

“Obviously I’ve spent the majority of my career at Cardiff but I’m a Dragons player now.  I’m excited to be part of this set-up, it is an exciting place to be at the moment.

“The game tomorrow will be a big test for us and obviously we have the Blues a few weeks later in the Magners League so it is a good opportunity.  And personally it will be a big test for me whether against Martyn, Sam Warburton or Ben White.  I will be chomping at the bit and hopefully I can get a bit longer on the pitch this time.

“There’s no doubt there will be a lot of banter flying around, there’s plenty of it on the pitch and when you’ve got a lot of mates there it will be extra special.  But it is the next step forward for us, it is a real step up and will put us in good stead for the remainder of the season.”
