South Wales accountancy practice Parker & Co helped kick off the new season for Newport Gwent Dragons with a welcome charity donation.
The Newport-based accountants handed over a cheque for £500 raised during a recent charity auction when various pieces of rugby memorabilia, including a signed Wales Grand Slam 2005 jersey, went under the hammer.
Alysha Weller, of Parker & Co., said: “Parker & Co. Recognises the extremely valuable and worthwhile work Newport Gwent Dragons does locally and therefore we are delighted to be able to help them with the tireless work that they do with the underprivileged and with schools in the community by helping to boost their coffers with this financial contribution.”
Mike Sage, Newport Gwent Dragons Community Manager, welcoming the donation, said: “This very welcome donation will be used to help further fund our involvement in the community through initiatives such as our Gateway and Second Half projects which aim to engage the rugby club and its players with disadvantaged youngsters, schools and vulnerable groups locally.”
