WORLD CUP WINNERS ON PARADE

Sevens World Cup winners Aled Brew and Tal Selley will have a chance to show their mettle as they line up in the region’s friendly match against the Scarlets at Rodney Parade tomorrow (7:15pm)

Sevens World Cup winners Aled Brew and Tal Selley will have a chance to show their mettle in the 15-a-side game as they line up in the region’s friendly match against the Scarlets at Rodney Parade tomorrow (7:15pm)

Head Coach Paul Turner has named a starting 15, but the friendly status of the match allows for replacements to be drawn from the squad.

Brew will be making his first Dragons appearance since his return to the region, following his sojourn with the Welsh Sevens side.

It’s good to see Aled Brew back in the Dragons colours and I hope to see him rekindle some of his best form with us,” said Turner. “He was always a big favourite with the Rodney Parade crowd and I'm sure he will want to show off the talents that helped him steer Wales to their recent Rugby World Cup Sevens triumph in Dubai.

Captain Tom Willis is in little doubt as to the significance of this game.
“While it has a 'friendly' label it still has a large degree of importance attached,” he said.
“This match is a prime chance for the team to build further confidence heading into the season’s final push, it allows players coming off injuries to find some form and match fitness and it also gives the coaches scope to test some of the less experienced and future Dragons in a higher standard of play than normal.”
