Dragons stars Tal Selley and Aled Brew became World Champions today as Wales defeated Argentina 19-12 in the Rugby World Cup Sevens final in Dubai.

Dragons stars Tal Selley and Aled Brew became World Champions today as Wales defeated Argentina 19-12 in the Rugby World Cup Sevens final in Dubai.

Joining in the celebrations were Tom Issacs and Craig Hill of Newport, who both played crucial roles in Wales’ victory

Wales defeated tournament favourites New Zealand in the quarter final, the second Welsh victory over the All Blacks this season.

Selley's contribution to the unprecedented Welsh Sevens success was undeniable as he was named player of the tournament.

Wales coach Paul John said: "This achievement is quite unbelievable. We knew when we beat New Zealand this morning, anything was possible.

"Our boys have been phenomenal and played some cracking Sevens so it is thoroughly deserved."

Wales Sevens squad:

Lee Beach (Neath, capt), Rhodri McAtee (Cornish Pirates), Lee Williams (Scarlets), Tom Isaacs (Newport), Aled Thomas (London Welsh), James Merriman (unattached), Tal Selley (Dragons), Aled Brew (Dragons), Craig Hill (Newport), Rhys Webb (Ospreys), Richie Pugh (Exeter Chiefs), Dafydd Hewitt (Blues).
