International stars will be on parade when UWIC women’s rugby team hope to go a giant step closer to making it four in a row when they tackle Edinburgh in the BUCS semi-finals at Rodney Parade next Wednesday. Both sides will be looking to book a ticket to the final at Twickenham on Wednesday 22 April.
They have won the title for the last three years and have Test players such as Rachel Poolman, Hannah Roberts, Rhian Bowden, Amy Day and Aimee Young in their squad.
And the UWIC men’s team will be looking to match them and book their final place when they take on Exeter later in the evening.
The double-header of top class action starts with the women’s match kicking-off at 2.00pm, UWIC qualifying for the last four by trouncing Cambridge 50-5 while Edinburgh defeated the College of St Mark and St John 45-15 in the quarter-finals.
The UWIC men’s team, who have been knocked out by UWE for the last three seasons – including in the 2007 final – lock horns with Exeter at 7.15pm.
