Brew and Lewis Commit to The Dragons

The Newport Gwent Dragons have confirmed the signing of winger Aled Brew

The Newport Gwent Dragons have confirmed the signing of winger Aled Brew initially on loan from the Cardiff Blues and then on a year’s contract starting from June 2009.

The 22 year old made 28 appearances scoring 13 trys when he played for the Dragons during the 2006 / 07 season. It was while at the Dragons that he earned three caps for Wales.

The Dragons have also confirmed the contract extension of back row Lewis Evans. Lewis who to date has made 25 appearances for the Dragons signing a two year deal and joins a growing group of young players including Dan Lydiate, Jason Tovey, Ashley Smith who have committed to the Region.

Aled Brew Said:

“I am delighted to be rejoining the Dragons and am looking for to challenging for a place in the starting XV. I had a good time and was successful with the Dragons two season ago and I hoping to be perform in the same way and hopefully push once again for international honours."

Speaking of the new contract Lewis Said:

"I am over the moon to have signed a new contract with the Dragons. There’s a great spirit here at the moment and I feel we are growing as a team and moving forward. Its been great having someone like Colin Charvis around to learn from and hopefully now I can continue to grow and develop, build on his legacy and I am very much looking forward to the next two years."

Speaking of the signings Paul Turner Said:

"It's fantastic to have secured these two players. Aled made a great impact when he joined us two seasons ago and I am confident he will once again make an impression with the squad and we hope to get him challenging for international honours once again.

With regards to Lewis, we have watched grow and develop and I am pleased he has committed his future to the Region. We are blending experience with youth here at the Dragons and he and Aled’s signing are another positive step in our growth as a Region."
