Celtic Crusaders and Newport Gwent Dragons have organised a joint one day rugby training camp for children aged 10-12 years old at Rodney Parade in Newport from 10am to 3pm on Thursday 20th August.
It’s part of an exciting three days at Rodney Parade with the Dragons facing Worcester Warriors in their first pre-season friendly of 2009-10 on Friday 21st August (kick-off 7.30pm) and the Crusaders taking on champions Leeds Rhinos in an engage Super League match on Saturday 22nd (kick-off 6pm).
Half of the camp will be children learning more about rugby union and the other half rugby league. The day will end with a question and answer session as well as a presentation of certificates and goodie bag by Crusaders and Dragons players and a photo opportunity with them.
Crusaders’ community manager Matt Pritchard said: “We’re delighted to be teaming up with the Dragons in this way just two days before we play at their Rodney Parade ground and its great the children will be learning more about both codes. Its important for children get involved and have the opportunity to play as much sport as possible and on the 20th August working together has given the children this opportunity.”
Dragons’ community manager Mike Sage said: “We are very pleased to be working with the Crusaders on this project. This joint development day will give local children the opportunity to get involved with rugby of both codes and get to meet the stars of both teams.”
