Positive Work Experiences gained at Rodney Parade
The partnership that has developed between Careers Wales and the Community Department of the Dragons has continued to flourish throughout the past few years.
Because of the popularity of the Dragons the number of students wishing to spend their work experience time at Rodney Parade has increased tremendously. Therefore the role that Careers Wales has played has been vital in maintaining the standards and interests of the pupils involved.
Those students who are fortunate enough to gain a place at Rodney Parade can enjoy a full programme of sporting related activities including visiting schools with the Development Officers and assisting in the daily running of the Second Half project.
This year we will attempt to help budding journalists by gaining work experience in our lively media department. Unfortunately one area that many students wish to visit is the physiotherapist, but due to the nature of the work involved this is not a realistic option. Although even here we do manage to get either Dan or Dave (the Physios) to spend some time with them to discuss the latest issues.
“We are very pleased with the standards of professionalism that pupils gain, and the opportunities provided for their further development, through their work experience at Rodney Parade - and all students have been very positive about their time with the Dragons” said Brian Dawson, Service Development Manager with Careers Wales.
“Their success was acknowledged at our recent Employer Awards ceremony, at which Phil James was presented with an award recognising their success”
Praise indeed, so if you are seeking work experience this educational year then get in touch with Careers Wales, through your school or college, as they are the way to get yourself accepted on a course at Rodney Parade.
